If you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of months, you may have missed the announcement that Sephora is bringing it’s heavenly palace to our shores.
Opening a store in Sydney in December, they plan to have 10 stand-alone stores. Sephora arriving here was inevitable, and while it is super exciting the main question everyone had was what were the prices going to be like. Living in Australia means we pay nearly double US prices. As well as the fact the AUS Dollar is 93 US cents, It really doesn’t make sense why we pay so much more for our makeup. Sephora Australia keep saying that they will be trying to match US prices or to “offer the best possible price for all of our Australian Consumers”. Which, if successful, will be problematic to the current makeup giant in Australia: MECCA Maxima.
MECCA Maxima, Kit Cosmetics and MECCA Cosmetica are all apart of the same company and bring global beauty brands to our shore. Their brands include Smashbox, Hourglass, By Terry, Nars, Stila, Too Faced amongst a heck of a lot of others. The only real missing brand is Urban Decay. Other than that they have most of what Sephora’s in America provide. If you’re signed up to their mailing list or follow MECCA Maxima, Kit Cosmetics or MECCA Cosmetica, you would have seen that they have lowered their prices! The third time in three years! It’s not a huge difference, but it is a price reduction and for us Aussie beauty lovers it is music to our ears.
Things are changing at the moment guys, I really don’t know what is going to happen in December when Sephora launches. All I know is that my bank account will be taking a serious hit.
What are your guys predictions? What do you think is going to happen when Sephora launches?
